Safety spotters for powerlines, buried services and high risk work.
Service Spotters Pty Ltd supplies trained, ticketed safety spotters to construction, utilities, resources, renewables and agricultural projects. We keep plant clear of overhead powerlines, watch excavation near buried services, guide cranes and mobile plant, and stand by for confined space, height and hot work, with every shift and stop work call recorded.
What we do
We put a dedicated set of eyes on the hazard so the operator can focus on the task, and we keep the records your safety team and the regulator expect to see.
- Overhead powerline spotters for plant working near live lines
- Underground service spotters for excavation, potholing and vacuum digging
- Plant and crane spotters for lifts, reversing and tight work fronts
- Traffic and pedestrian spotters at site interfaces
- Confined space standby people with rescue plans in place
- Working at heights standby and rescue cover
- Hot works fire watch during and after the work
- Exclusion zone planning, spotter briefings and toolbox talks
Why Service Spotters
Our people work to construction programs, not around them. Every shift, clearance check, warning and stop work call is logged in the field so the evidence is ready when you need it.
You deal with one team from scoping through to close-out, with itemised quotes and no surprises on the invoice.

Frequently asked questions
When do I need a safety spotter near powerlines?
Whenever plant or people could come closer to overhead lines than the approach distances set by your state's electrical safety rules. Many states require a dedicated spotter once plant enters the zone around the line, and network operators often add their own conditions. We can help you work out what applies to your site.
Do you spot for excavation near underground services?
Yes. We work from the Before You Dig Australia plans and locator marks, watch the bucket or vacuum head, call stops when the ground changes and record any exposed or unmarked service.
Are your spotters trained and ticketed?
Yes. Team members hold the spotter, first aid and site tickets their tasks require, such as a state electrical spotter course for powerline work. Ticket details are supplied with quotes on request.
Do you cover projects outside Queensland?
Yes. We support projects across Australia, including remote resources and renewables sites, and work within each state's work health and safety and electrical safety laws.
Can a spotter do other tasks at the same time?
No. A spotter's job is to watch the hazard and warn the operator. Our people are dedicated to that role for the whole time the risk exists.
